KCRC is excited to offer a Youth Rowing Program at the Kenmore Public Boathouse during the summer months for both rowers aged 13-18. Our programming ranges from Learn to Row classes, introducing new rowers to the sport, to skills clinics and conditioning programs for more experienced athletes.

Youth Programming Descriptions
Youth Learn-to-Row ($325)
Tailored for incoming 8th to 12th graders, our program emphasizes the foundational skills of rowing. Participants will not only learn the rowing stroke but also the importance of teamwork as they work together to carry boats and oars. Our experienced coaches guide rowers in safely placing large rowing shells in the water, ensuring a hands-on experience from the very start. We are excited to introduce your child to the basics of rowing, aiming to inspire a lasting passion for the sport that can accompany them through college and beyond. Join us for a journey on the water that cultivates skills, confidence, and camaraderie!
Requirements – be able to hold 30 lbs over head, only incoming 8th – 12th graders
Youth Intermediate ($325)
Designed as a seamless continuation for participants of our Youth Learn-to-Row (LTR) program, this course is perfect for novice rowers eager to elevate their skills at an accelerated pace. In this program, rowers will have the opportunity to refine their techniques and enhance their performance as they work towards showcasing their progress at one of our KCRC friendlies. Join us to further develop your rowing abilities, build confidence, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow athletes as you take your skills to the next level!
Requirements – be able to hold 30 lbs over head, only incoming 8th – 12th graders, completed a Beginner/ LTR camp within 1 year
Youth Scull ($130)
This program is specially designed for rowers with sweep rowing experience who are eager to expand their skills through sculling. Focused on the technical aspects of rowing, participants will learn to scull in various boats, including the 1x, 2x, and 4x. Our camp is also suited for those with prior sculling experience looking to refine their technique and enhance their performance. Join us for an engaging and skill-building experience on the water as you take your rowing journey to new heights!
Requirements – previous sweeping experience required, completed one LTR and Intermediate session, can join if you’ve never learned how to scull before and can also join if they have previous scull experience
Youth Advanced Conditioning ($200)
This program is tailored for rowers with previous competitive experience who are ready to elevate their performance. Focusing on stamina, speed, and strength, this session is designed for those looking to kickstart their upcoming season or improve in preparation for college-level recruitment. Participants will benefit from a comprehensive training approach that includes intense conditioning on the water, as well as land training to enhance overall fitness. Join us to maximize your potential and achieve your rowing goals!
Requirements – must have completed 1 full year of rowing (1 fall and 1 spring season), be able to hold 30 lbs over head
Youth Intermediate 1 Week Row ($165)
KCRC’s Youth Intermediate Row, a one-week session to cap off the summer! This program is designed for rowers who have completed a Learn-to-Row camp and are eager to put their newly acquired skills to use on the water. It’s the perfect opportunity for participants to enjoy one last rowing experience before the summer ends. Join us for a fun and engaging week of rowing, where you’ll build confidence, refine your techniques, and make lasting memories with fellow athletes!
Requirements – be able to hold 30 lbs over head , incoming 8th – 12th graders, completed a LTR camp within 1 year
Youth Advanced 1 Week Row ($165)
KCRC’s Youth Advanced Row, a one-week session designed to wrap up the summer on the water! This program is tailored for rowers with previous competitive experience who are looking to reconnect with their skills and get back in the groove before the start of their respective rowing seasons. Participants will engage in focused conditioning exercises to enhance their strength and performance. This will be a combination of sweep and sculling. Join us for an exciting week of rowing, camaraderie, and preparation as we gear up for a successful season ahead!
Requirements – must have completed 1 full year of rowing (1 fall and 1 spring season), be able to hold 30 lbs over head

Payment
Payment is due one month before camp starts. Our club believes in sharing the sport of rowing with everyone and we offer scholarships for youth participation.
Camp Requirements
All requirements due 2 weeks before camp:
- Payment in full
- Youth USRowing membership ($15 admin fee)
- Swim tests (valid for 5 years with KCRC)
- Photo release waiver
- Testament of viewing USRowing safety video with parent/guardian
- KCRC liability release waiver
Apparel and Camp Preparations
Rowers should come prepared each day with a water bottle, snack, sneakers, hat and sunglasses, bath/beach towel and necessary medications. Appropriate clothing is athletic clothing that isn’t too loose (as it may get caught in the equipment) and weather appropriate. Shirts required during all camp activities. This is not a swim camp. Please limit valuables brought to the boathouse.
